There you have it! Washington flipped a kill switch on Anthropic's two best models. Today there is no kill switch anymore. There is a negotiation.

Let me walk you through what changed.

The U.S. government issued an export-control directive on Friday, June 12. Fable 5 and Mythos 5 — ranked first globally for model intelligence — went dark for every customer on the planet. Not a lawsuit. Not a fine,an order. Models offline, worldwide, over a weekend.

So Anthropic sent its top three security researchers to Washington. Nicholas Carlini. Logan Graham. Dave Orr. The people who actually red-team these systems.

Now look at who they met with.

The Commerce Secretary. The Treasury Secretary. The National Cyber Director.

You do not send a Treasury Secretary to argue about a jailbreak patch. You send a Treasury Secretary when the government has decided this is national security and economic leverage in the same breath. That room tells you everything about how seriously Washington is treating frontier AI now.

And here is what nobody in that room can answer yet.

What does "fixed" even look like?

Anthropic says the directive never told them what the national security concern actually was. No written justification. No remediation standard. The company says the demonstrated jailbreak technique exposed only previously known, minor vulnerabilities — the kind any public model surfaces without any bypass at all. The White House, through David Sacks, says they warned Dario Amodei and Anthropic did nothing.

Both sides say they want the models back online. Neither side can describe the finish line.

That is the part that should worry every CEO running enterprise AI.

Your stack can be turned off by a verbal warning and a Friday directive, and then you can spend the weekend in a room where nobody — not you, not the government — actually knows what compliance requires. You cannot fix what was never written down.

This is no longer a story about one jailbreak. It is a story about whether American AI runs on rules or on phone calls.

We cover this exact mess every day on UnbiasedHeadlines.com — built end-to-end by my AI agents, no spin, no left, no right, just the facts and every source linked so you can check the work yourself.
