China Threat Cybersecurity AI
There you have it! President Trump just killed an AI security executive order that would have FORCED companies to hand over their models to the government 14 to 90 days before launch.
His words: he did not want to do anything that gets in the way of America's lead over China.
That was too close!
I have been saying this for YEARS. AI regulation is the single fastest way to hand China the keys. Every compliance hoop. Every pre-launch review board. Every 90-day government hold on innovation. It all adds up to one thing — China catches up while America fills out paperwork.
The EO sounded like national security on paper. In practice it was a bureaucratic chokepoint that would have slowed every major AI lab in the country. Anthropic. OpenAI. Google. All of them forced to sit on their hands while government evaluators played catch-up with technology they barely understand.
Now compare that to Gavin Newsom. Same day. California's governor signs his own AI executive order — subsidizing companies to keep human employees instead of adopting AI. Universal basic capital. Job training programs for customer service reps and marketers.
This is what losing looks like.
You want to guarantee America falls behind China? Pay companies NOT to use AI. Punish efficiency. Reward stagnation.
Newsom is not protecting workers. He is protecting the illusion that AI is not already replacing them. It is. And pretending otherwise does not slow down Beijing — it just speeds up the day American companies relocate to states that actually want to win.
Trump got this one right. Kill the blocker. Let American companies compete. Stop treating AI like a threat to be contained and start treating it like the weapon it is in the race against China.
Glad I finally got through to him.
