There you have it. Mark Zuckerberg just told the world what I cover in depth in my upcoming book, REPLACEMENT.
Internal Meta documents show some engineering teams are now required to have 65 to 80 percent of their committed code written by AI by H1 2026. Not a goal. Not a suggestion. A mandate. Simultaneously, Meta is cutting hundreds of engineers across Reality Labs, Facebook, and operations — with potentially 15,000 more layoffs on the way.
Zuckerberg's own words: 2026 is the year AI "significantly reduces the need for large teams."
Let that land.
This is not a pilot program. This is not an experiment. This is the largest social media company on earth telling its engineers that most of what they do will be done by AI — and backing it up with pink slips.
REPLACEMENT is not a concept. It is a mandate. It is happening now, at the biggest tech company in the world, at scale, in writing.
The question every engineer, every manager, every executive should be asking is not "will AI replace my team?" That question has already been answered. The question is: what role do you play in a world where 75 percent of the code is written by a machine?
I go deep on exactly this in my upcoming book, REPLACEMENT. The mechanics of how this unfolds, what survives, what does not, and what you need to do about it now — not in three years.
If you want to hear me talk through this live, join us on April 9th at 1PM ET for the In the Nic of Time Rebirth: https://lnkd.in/eRY96Jvm
The future is not coming. It is already being committed to your main branch.
