China Threat Defense AI
There you have it! Google just announced Gemini 4 Argon and called it the best AI model on the planet. Then told almost everyone they can't use it.
No release date. Locked behind a vetted partner program.
And every benchmark backing up the hype? Google graded its own homework. 77.9% on DeepSWE vs. 74.2% for Claude Opus 5.5 and 74.1% for GPT-6 Astra. Zero independent verification.
Here's my honest take.
Google is so far behind that I wouldn't use Gemini today if it were free.
I run real engineering work every single day. Opus 5.5 and GPT-6 Astra do the job. Gemini doesn't make the cut.
Now here's the part nobody in Washington wants to talk about.
Despite all of that, the Pentagon got locked into Gemini for 12 months through GenAI.mil. Only now are they starting to bring in other models. About a year behind the schedule incompetent Emil Michael originally promised.
A year. In AI, that's a generation. China doesn't wait a year.
Emil Michael picked the wrong horse, the weakest one, due to personal conflicts of interests, and missed his own deadline by twelve months.
So I'll ask you directly.
Will Gemini 4 Argon finally get Google caught up to OpenAI, Anthropic and xAI's Grok? Or is this another press release model nobody can touch?
