There you have it. Dow Inc. — a $40 BILLION chemical giant operating in 160 countries — just got added to Qilin ransomware's public leak site.

Let me put that in perspective. Dow is not a startup. Dow is not a government agency with a constrained IT budget. Dow is a Fortune 50 company with 36,000 employees, a dedicated security team, and decades of enterprise infrastructure investment. And a ransomware crew just put them on their public shame list like a delinquent who hasn't paid their bill.

No data published yet. But the clock is ticking.

Here is what happens next if they don't pay: proprietary chemical formulas. Customer contracts. Supply chain blueprints. Employee data. Intellectual property that took decades to build — sitting on a dark web server waiting for the highest bidder.

This is the pattern I have been screaming about for years. Big company. Legacy infrastructure. Reactive security. No zero trust architecture. No proper segmentation. And then one day you wake up and you are on a ransomware group's Tor site.

Qilin does not care how big you are. They don't care how many Fortune 500 rankings you have. They care about whether your network is segmented, whether your backups are air-gapped, and whether your crown jewels are behind proper access controls. Dow apparently failed at least one of those tests.

The scariest part? Dow makes the chemical compounds that go into everything from packaging to automotive parts to construction materials. This is critical infrastructure. This is exactly the kind of target that a nation-state proxies a ransomware group to hit. You think Qilin is just freelancing?

Security is not a compliance checkbox. It is not a quarterly audit. It is not something you outsource to a vendor and forget. It is a continuous operating capability that requires the same discipline as your core business.

Run continuous threat detection, zero trust segmentation, and automated incident response, all powered by AI agents. Not because I am paranoid. Because this is 2026 and the alternative is ending up on a leak site.

You have been warned.
