Nicolas Chaillan replaced 40 engineers, a team of analysts, a trading floor, and a school teacher — with AI agents running 24/7 for $200 a day. He built the system that did it. He sold it to the Pentagon. Now he's writing the book about what it means for your career, your kids, and your country.

About the Book

REPLACEMENT is the book that says what every AI insider knows but nobody will say out loud. Nicolas built AI for the Pentagon, sold Ask Sage for $250M, and now runs thirteen AI agents for roughly $200 a day — replacing the work of 40+ people.

This is not a doomsday warning. It's a solutions book — a playbook on which skills survive, how to build a one-person company with AI, how to future‑proof your career, and what to teach your kids.

Nicolas runs 13 AI agents for $200 a day. They do the work that used to require a team of forty people and over $10 million a year in salaries. That's not a thought experiment. That's his Tuesday.

Replacement tells that story — from a childhood in Marseille writing code at age 7, to becoming the first Chief Software Officer of the U.S. Air Force and Space Force, to building 13 companies and engineering a $250 million exit with Ask Sage. It's the story of a builder who watched the tools he created start replacing the people he built them for.

This isn't another book about disruption. The word is replacement — of entire teams, entire professions, entire career paths. It's happening now, and America is sleepwalking through it while China deploys.

Every chapter weaves four threads: the immigrant who coded his way out of Marseille, the builder who started 13 companies, the Pentagon insider who saw China deploying while America debated, and the father worried about the world his daughters will inherit.

"I woke up at 6 AM on a Tuesday in January 2026 and watched my AI agents finish the work that would have required a team of forty people. I made a coffee. I was scared." — From the Prologue

About Nicolas

Nicolas Chaillan is the first Chief Software Officer of the U.S. Air Force and Space Force, a serial entrepreneur who has founded 13 companies and built 190+ products, and the founder of Ask Sage — the AI platform for government and defense that sold for $250M in 2025.

Born in Marseille, he started coding at age 7, built his first company at 15, and came to America because he believed in meritocracy. He led DevSecOps, Cloud One, and Zero Trust architecture for the U.S. military, resigned publicly in 2021 over the AI gap with China, and now runs 13 AI agents that replace an entire staff — all while raising three daughters in Florida.
